It took Barbadian international music superstar Rihanna and her 2007 hit, “Umbrella,” to

Rihanna and her “Umbrella”

make us all look at an umbrella as something other than an umbrella, but, we did indeed do just that. And, when you reflect back on the number of times that you endured that song, it’s really no big surprise.

The very cool t-shirt design above breathes new life into our love affair with them, and, it’s not a moment too soon. The various weights of the bold brush strokes, wipes and paint drippings bring balance that give this overall concept an expression of Pop art. Combining these effects with the influences from Belgian surrealist

painter, Rene Magritte and the iconic bowler hat imagery he so made popular is keen modernization. Magritte is known for his witty and thought-provoking works which forces its viewers to question their perceptions of reality.  This use of the monochromatic tones on this heather grey tee brings it all together seamlessly. This is one of my favorite tee design finds in quite some time. Kudos!
