This was a week of a silent tribute. This past Wednesday, August 29th would have been the 54th birthday of the self-proclaimed King of Pop, Michael Jackson. As I walked around New York City on this day, I saw many of my fellow New Yorkers wearing t-shirts that acknowledged him. What I observed and noted the most, however, is what the t-shirt above reflects. How iconic the lyrics of the songs from his solo career, as well as those of the Jackson Five have become for so many of us who grew up listening to their music. Just a short few lines or quick phrase of text, can send you off humming and singing a particular song to yourself. The lyrics shown on the t-shirt above are from the song, “Blame it on the Boogie,” made popular by the Jackson Five when it hit the music waves in the late 70′s reaching Number 3 on the R&B charts here in the United States.
And, as summer 2012 draws to a close, I found it apropos to reinterpret the words of this song in the optimistic belief that this summer was a spectacular one for you and yours. I hope it was filled with lots of great sunshine, spectacular and romantic views of moonlight, endless and endless good times and when you look back at all of the mischief…blame it on the boogie!
