inspiration by the sea

How could we ever survive summer without the ice cream truck? The sound of that familiar jingle takes us all back to a time when, being able to buy a cool, yummy treat was all it took for our happy faces to appear.

Although the spectacular, large sculpture shown above and at the right, may summarize the dog days of summer to many of us. It is known as the “Melted Ice Cream Truck,” and was inspired by the effects of global warming on the planet around us.  Created by “The Glue Society” in 2006 and displayed on Tamarama Beach, it was apart of the annual exhibition known as “Bondi Sculpture by the Sea”  held along the beautiful beaches in Sydney, Australia. Each year, this beautiful coast is transformed into a 2km long temporary sculpture park featuring over 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and across the world and is a much anticipated public event.

This year’s annual event will take place in Sydney, Australia from Thursday, October 18th – Sunday, November 4th, during their summer season. For more information, check out their website at or email for more. Be sure and check out photos from past exhibits…super cool sculptures and installations await you!
