Happy Gay Pride Month! Forty three years ago this month, the Stonewall riots occurred on Christopher Street in New York City. And in honor of this historical event, many pride activities are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT people have had in the world.
Two American presidents have honored this. The first being the former President Bill Clinton in 2000 who declared it “Gay & Lesbian Pride Month” and current President Barack Obama who in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 declared June “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.”
