Taken any memorable photos in Times Square lately? Have a concept for a great photograph you want to shoot in Times Square? Well, here’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss. The New York Historical Society, the city’s oldest museum and one of the nation’s most distinguished independent research libraries, invites professional and amateur photographers alike to submit images for their Times Square Photo Contest. Images should be shot between West 42nd to 47th Streets at Broadway or Seventh Avenue. They are interested in concepts of exterior architecture, outdoor portraits, group snapshots, billboards and advertisements and interior images of notable area buildings.
Photos are to be submitted online at http://contest.nyhistory.org by January 31, 2011. This link will also provide you with the contest guidelines, which you can download. Digital photographs can be emailed to email@example.com in either GIF, JPG or PNG formats. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. The contest is open to legal residents of the United States who are eighteen (18) years or older at the time of entry.
First Prize is $500 cash prize. Second Prize is $250 cash prize. Third prize is a $100 gift certificate to the New York Historical Society’s Museum Store. All contestants get the chance to have their photo become part of the New York Historical Society’s permanent collection. So, get those creative juices flowing and keep your eye on the prize.
