Last night was the second annual Fashion’s Night Out event. It is a global celebration of fashion uniting fashionistas from around the world for one fun night and the brainchild of Anna Wintour, of Vogue. Here in New York it is held during Fashion Week. The city was aglow with even more energy, bright lights and beautiful people than usual. It was as if the fashion industry had declared a national holiday and we were all invited to the party. From downtown in Soho to uptown on Madison Avenue, the city was an oyster to be consumed by all. The toughest part was getting from Point A to B. There was so much to do and see and be seen doing it. Velvet ropes, burly doorman dressed in black, never-ending lines and fabulous cocktails were to be had at many of the participating retail stores. Celebs mingled with locals and locals were treated as celebs for a night.
A collection was created of cotton short and long sleeved t-shirts, tanks and hoodies with the FNO (Fashion’s Night Out) logo and an abstract cityscape print. It is available at selected retailers throughout the city. Check the official website of Fashion’s Night Out for further information. Forty percent of the proceeds from the sales goes to The New York City AIDS Fund in The New York Community Trust. The short sleeved t-shirt could be seen everywhere. It was interesting to see the many ways it was interpreted and stylized. No two people wore it the same nor looked the same. Now that’s making a fashion statement.
